Product Overview

Semogue 2000 Pure Bristle Shaving Brush

Product

The Semogue 1250 Pure Bristle Shaving brush is a great looking brush with classic styling. It features a classic 'barbershop' style Ash wood handle, with a clear matt finish. The handle carries the unmistakable 'Excelsior' badge and is topped with a 'silver' collar which holds the renowned Semogue densely filled Pure Boar Bristle loft. A great looking brush with excellent performance. Hand Made in Portugal.
(NB. The handle is made of a natural material and there will be variations in the grain to the images shown)

How to use

The brush bristles should be wet (not soaking) before use. Load the loft with soap or cream and apply to the areas to be shaved, using a strong circular motion. This softens the hairs and also raises them ready for shaving.

We strongly recommend the following aftercare for your brush; When finished always rinse the brush under hot water (especially at the base of the bristles) to remove any remaining soap residue which can result in damage to the bristle and cause early shedding of the loft. The brush should then be stored loft facing down to dry. This can be achieved by using a shaving brush stand and prevents the bristles rotting at the base due to moisture.

Recommended for

Both shaving creams and shaving soaps and all skin types.

Grooming tip

All shaving brushes need to be 'broken-in' and this is achieved simply by using the brush. The more it is used, the more the hairs will soften and split at the ends to create a softer tip

Semogue 2000 Pure Bristle Shaving Brush is the best of the best. I want to decipher this diet that does all the work and more. Just buy it to see how useful it is.

    A good bristle brush.

This is a fairly large bristle brush at a reasonable price point. Being bristle, it is well suited to use with shaving soap. It produces and holds lather well. I am pleased with this brush.

My best bristle brush so far

Posted by Anon on 2nd Sep 2013

I normally use badger brushes with creams, and occasionally soaps, but have a rather unsatisfactory bristle brush. Having seen a few reviews of Semogue bristle brushes and their suitability for use with soaps like Mitchells, Trumpers etc., I thought I'd get one and see what it can do. The 2000 is a large size, which I like. All but one of my brushes have mock-ivory handles, but this wooden one looks good. As it's not a painted finish, there shouldn't be any of the paint loss problems that sometimes occur. On first use, with Floris soap and a large shaving mug, I was able to whip up vast amounts of lather, with little effort. The brush is comfortable to use, but as it "breaks in", it will feel and work even better. All in all, I think I made a good choice.
