    Excellent Little Razor

Posted by NJC on 19th Jan 2021

Superb little travel razor that packs down into a neat little pouch. This is a genuine Merkur product and is good quality. Gives an excellent shave when you get used to the balance with the slightly smaller handle. Really pleased with the razor and the service from Maguires. Delivery was quick and well packaged in a sturdy small box. 5 stars only because I couldn't give more.

    Merkur open-comb travel razor

Posted by Unknown on 19th Aug 2020

With a two-part handle, all the bits will easily fit inside a matchbox with room to spare for a small piece of soap and a few styptic matches. The ultimate travel razor. The head is the standard Merkur open-comb used on several other Merkur razors. On the Badger & Blade aggressiveness scale this is rated at a moderate, user-friendly 2/10. It's still quite capable of a BBS though. It may be a travel razor but you won't have to compromise on a good shave. A mild open-comb design is very versatile and should handle just about any kind of shaving task. I've sliced through a week-and-a-half old beard with no problems, and no clogging. Head-shaving? Compared to the electric shavers I've used in the past, this gets the job done quicker, easier and closer. The handle is quite short but I think it feels really nice. If you're used to a long handle you might have to change your technique but this could be a positive not a negative. Hold it with one finger pushed up on the underside of the head. This gives you direct feedback from the business end and very fine control. I can't fault it - so five stars.
