Product

The Merkur 38C Double Edge (DE) Safety Razor is a beautifully crafted and finished, classic 2 piece razor. The quality which is synonymous with Merkur is evident in every detail. The longer length handle is finished in satin chromed brass with the classic 'barberpole' design along the whole section, which allows for a superior grip even when hands are wet. The razor sits comfortably in the hand and the weight is evenly distributed along the length of the handle, achieving a well balanced easy to use razor. A Gentle Giant

Posted by Jim Needham on 18th Sep 2014

I bought this particular razor a) because I wanted a Merkur razor that was different from my others (20C & 34G), and b) all the reviews I could find about it were very positive. It is certainly considerably heavier than any other DE razor I have used (at 113gms)which tends to make one a bit more careful and allow the razor's weight to do the work. The reward is a very pleasing, first-rate shave! Ultimately this may not end up being my favourite razor, but it certainly won't end up at the back of a drawer. If you are considering buying a razor that has a good heft, is well-balanced and well-engineered - and at a very reasonable price - the 38C is worth more than a second look. Highly recommended!

    The best by far

Posted by Unknown on 21st Mar 2014

I have had many DE razors. My first razor was a 38C, and yes you always think the grass is greener on the other side. I went and tried a £150.00 Pils, a £150.00 iKon, and an EJ DE89. But ultimately I have gone full circle and gone back to the razor I started with, the Merkur 38C. It gives the best close in daily shave, all the time, every time. Brilliant value for money.
